Jewellery Care Tips

Gold's worst enemy is chlorine which can weaken gold's structure, eventually leading to breakage. So keep your gold jewellery away from chlorinated cleaning products and out of swimming pools and jacuzzis.
Keep gold jewellery away from household cleaning products which contain acids, abrasives and other harsh chemicals.
One effective way of cleaning gold rings and bracelets is to dissolve a sachet of an antacid, drop in your gold jewellery, keep it in for a few minutes and rinse under tap water until you have washed it all off.
Never use detergent, soap, toothpaste etc to clean your gold jewellery.
Take gold jewellery to a jeweller annually to have it checked for loose parts or other damage.

To protect your silver, always wrap it in jeweller's tissue and save it in a plastic zip lock bag and seal.
Real silver is a soft metal and can be damaged by a fingernail or even a wadded piece of fabric. Hence, avoid being too rough with it.
All silver is prone to oxidation when exposed to the atmosphere, and consequently it tarnishes.
Gently rub it with a silver cleaning cloth it will restore the original brilliance of the surface.
Do not use liquid cleaners for carved silver jewellery because the liquid dries into the engraving and spoils its look and glow.

Kundan jewellery is very prone to moisture which can cause damage, since the setting is very delicate and uses a lot of uncut diamonds. So, to keep them shining for longer, store your jewellery in a dry area.
While cleaning Kundan Jewellery, use warm non-detergent-based soapy water and wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
Wear jewellery after make-up while dressing, because cosmetics and perfumes can cause damage to delicate items.
Store Kundan jewellery in its own box or pouch to prevent scratching, chipping and entanglement.
Never clean damaged, cracked or broken jewellery, since the additional handling is likely to increase the problem. Repair it as soon as possible.

Clean diamond jewellery with a soft brush dipped in warm water and mild detergent, rinse under running water. Do not brush.
Do not handle diamond jewellery frequently because even oil from our skin can make it greasy and affect its look.
Store it separately, in a secure container with a fabric lining and cotton pads. This will help to minimize movement or hitting the sides of the storage container.
Do not wear diamond jewellery during any sports for the diamond may loosen up from its setting.
Take your ring off when doing anything requiring lots of work with your hands -- or involving water such as dishwashing or swimming, since it can make your fingers shrink.
